Cloud software is convenient until the connection drops during the evening rush. Here is what a real offline mode should do, and how to test it before it matters.

Load-shedding, a fibre cut or a router that needs a restart: every shop and restaurant has lost connection at some point. With a purely online POS, that means a queue at the counter, handwritten receipts and a messy reconciliation later.

What "offline" should mean

  • The till keeps selling. Items, prices, barcodes and customers are already on the device, so the cashier works as normal.
  • Sales are queued, not lost. Each sale is saved on the device in order and sent automatically when the connection returns.
  • Tax reporting catches up. If you are an FBR-integrated retailer, receipts are submitted once the connection returns, and anything that fails is listed with the reason.
  • Everyone can see the status. A clear banner shows how many changes are waiting and turns green when everything is sent.
  • It's not just sales. Attendance, support tickets, CRM updates and other entries made offline should sync the same way.

How to test your POS before it matters

  1. Disconnect the till from the internet during a quiet hour.
  2. Make a cash sale, a card sale and a return.
  3. Check the receipt prints and stock looks right on the device.
  4. Reconnect and confirm that the sales, stock and accounts update on the main system without duplicates.
  5. If you are FBR-integrated, confirm the queued receipts received FBR invoice numbers.

How Hayat ERP works offline

Hayat ERP can be installed as an app on Windows or Mac (from Chrome or Edge), on Android, and on iPhone from Safari. Screens you have used stay available offline. The POS keeps selling, and sales are queued and sent when the connection returns. Attendance, tickets, CRM updates and patient registrations are saved in an outbox on the device and synced in order, and a banner shows how many changes are waiting.

For smaller shops, the Hayat Lite phone app is a simple till with khata (customer credit), stock and expenses in English or Urdu, and it also keeps selling offline.

See Hayat ERP's POS or book a demo and we'll show you a sale with the Wi-Fi switched off.
